Slalom competitions

Giant

1. Vertical drop: Men: 250 – 450m, Women: 250 – 400m

2. Gates:

  • Gates consist of 4 poles and 2 flags
  • Flags are approx. 0,5 m high and 0,75 m wide
  • Lower edge of a flag is approx. 1m above the snow
  • Gate width: 5 – 8m

3. Gates are set alternatively red and blue

4. The distance between two nearest poles of successive gates should not be smaller than 10m

5. Number of gates: 11-15% of the vertical drop in meters

6. A GS is carried out in two runs

7. The start order:

  • The start order for the first run is determined according to the FIS points
  • The start order for the second run is determined according to the results of the first run except for the first 30 competitors, who start in a reverse order at the very beginning

Super Giant

1. Vertical drop: Men: 400 – 650m, Women: 400 – 600m

2. Gates:

  • Gates Consist of 4 poles and 2 flags
  • Flags are approx. 0,5 m high and 0,75 m wide
  • Lower edge of a flag is approx. 1m above the snow

3. Gate width:

  • Horizontal gates: 6 – 8m
  • Vertical gates: 6-12m

4. Min number of gates: 7% of vertical drop in meters

5. The distance between two turning poles of successive gates:

  • At least 15m in case of vertical gates combination or delayed gates combination
  • At least 25m in other cases

6. A Super G is carried out in one run

7. The start order is determined according to the FIS points

Slalom

1. Vertical drop: Men: 180 – 220m, Women: 140 – 220m

2. Gates:

  • Gates consist of 2 poles
  • Gate width: 4-6m

3. Gates are set alternatively red and blue

4. Number of gates: 30-35% of the vertical drop +/-3 in meters

5. Gradient of a slope: approx. 33-45%

6. The SL is carried out in two runs

7. The start order:

  • The start order for the first run is determined according to the FIS points
  • The start order for the second run is determined according to the results of the first run except for the first 30 competitors, who start in a reverse order at the very beginning
